Natural Incense Company – Pooja – Mysore Chandan

Purchased from Ephra World Shop at the end of 2022, a pack of 20 sticks (20g) costs €4.45 (€0.45 per stick), with a burn time of 60-70 minutes. As a small bonus, a bookmark is included, visible through the cutouts in the packaging.

In the final sentence of my review of Raphael, I referenced Mysore Chandan, writing: Mysore Chandan feels a bit purer to me; the sweetness and creaminess typically associated with Mysore sandalwood is strongly emphasized, making its scent slightly more attractive to me.” However, the sweetness of Mysore Chandan goes far beyond that. The warm, smooth sandalwood scent is always present but blends with the other balsamic and creamy notes of the composition. Mysore Chandan is sweet, sweet, sweet. I suspect Tolu balm might be an ingredient, as the scent reminds me a bit of honey; however, Natural Incense Company does, in fact, use honey in (at least some of) their incense stick varieties.
Additionally, something in the scent evokes an association with nuts, especially sugary treats like baklava or the classic Karlsbader Oblaten with hazelnuts and almonds, making it fit perfectly into my ‘Nose Candy‘ tag.
Only when the smoke has the chance to disperse and spread into other rooms does the sweetness mellow, allowing the woody aspect to come through more clearly. This also applies to the after-smell.

Mysore Chandan has a rich, sweet, almost sugary fragrance, always accompanied by a creamy sandalwood note. These sticks are only for genuine sweet noses!
