Quo Vadis? 2025
Last season, I wrote more reviews than ever, and as expected, editing and translating them stretched well into winter. I only recently finished some remaining reviews and scheduled them for publication. The last ones will appear throughout March.
Despite that, my incense collection has rather grown than shrunk, and new packages from acquaintances and friends are already on their way to me. So, I certainly won’t run out of material to write about in 2025. 😉
There have also been some exciting developments outside Rauchfahne as well:
I was able to add two new blogs to my link collection: Ratnagandh, run by Vid, who writes reviews on Indian incense, and Nathan Upchurch’s website, which has been around for a while but, since 2024, also features articles on incense-making and a handful of reviews. I particularly recommend checking out his video in the article Making Incense: A Cursory Guide.
A brand-new discovery is Incense Apprentice, written by Sara, whose articles I’ve been reading with growing enthusiasm.
Unfortunately, I’m currently dealing with a mild case of anosmia following a nasty viral bronchitis I caught in mid-February. Therefore, it’s still up in the air when my new review season will truly start.
What I can already reveal, though, is that I have a series of Bakhoor reviews in the works, written during winter, though, I wanted to write more. Actually, I had planned to focus on a stack of Bakhoor samples from my friend Povilas in December. However, Sascha caused a delay on that; he sent me an incense cone advent calendar for an early Christmas gift. Naturally, given the season, that had priority. But postponed is not forgotten—I promise.
Aside of that, I have a couple of DIY articles in the making.
Last year, I neglected my experiments with homemade incense, but I plan to change that in 2025. Furthermore, I want to spend more time with loose incense again.
In short, the upcoming season promises to be exciting and diverse, and I’m looking forward to many new experiences and encounters. 😀
Hi there, thanks for mentioning my blog. I hope you recover well. Can’t wait to see your Bakhoor reviews and good luck on your new venture.
Thanks, Vid!
Thanks for the inclusion on your link list! Hoping your nose is back and better than ever soon. Keen for the bakhoor reviews; I’ve always been afraid to try it as it seems like it’s pretty strong. On advent calendars – Nippon Kodo has one too that I’d love to try, but it is rather expensive!
Thanks Nathan, I think it’s already getting better. 🙂
Some Bakhoors are crazy strong! The upside is, you can use teeny-tiny amounts.
Honestly, I find it kinda surprising that not more brands do advent calendars, given how big of a commercial deal the Christmas season is and how much popularity advent calendars for adults gained during the last years. It feels like almost everything is made into advent calenders these days… Tea, perfume, even beer!
Get well soon! I think your olfactory sensors are upgrading in this anosmic period! haha
Thank you Alok! Hah, I like that thought! XD
Get well soon dear friend ❤️ looking forward to reading more reviews from you!
Thank you Silver! 💜
I hope your anosmia clears up soon!
I love your blog, and love that you have been pelting out so many reviews recently.
Thanks Steve!
