Paropakaram – Sandalwood
Paropakaram offers both sandalwood incense sticks and cones. Sascha, the owner of Indiaroma, has sent me samples of both.
The sticks are available in packs with 10 pieces (~ 18g) for €6.89.
The cones are available for €7.80 (20 pieces).

The Sandalwood sticks have a pleasant, full sandalwood smell with well-pronounced sweetness that’s typically milky. However, it’s not a rich, creamy chandan fragrance profile; the smell is woody and slightly powdery-dry.
I smell a light musk note, which seems to be characteristic for the sticks by Paropakaram. However, with Sandalwood this keeps itself nicely in the background.
I find the intensity of the sticks pleasant, the smell is robust but not too ‘loud’. The after-smell is mild.

A cone burns for approximately 20 minutes. After that, it takes another 7 minutes until the ember has fully extinguished.
Unfortunately, I could do very little with the fragrance of the cones. They have a perfumed character, which reminded me of Mysore Shugandi – Chandan Dhoop.
The smell is creamy, paired with a cosmetically fresh to soapy note.
I also find an off-note in it that triggers associations with rubber or plastic.
They’re definitely based on a thoroughly different recipe from the sticks.
As with many other cones, the smell becomes very ashy and dull in the lower third.
