Vishu – Nag Champa
I received these samples from my friend Silver. She discussed Vishu – Nag Champa in her Nag Champa comparative review.
I’ve never seen Vishu available for purchase here. In India, this Nag Champa is sold in 16g boxes for ₹43, which is just under €0.50.
Like Silver, I’m surprised by how good these sticks are.
Vishu – Nag Champa are a warm feeling, sweet Nag Champa with a relatively pronounced fruity side. It reminds me of mango or even papaya; it’s also accompanied by a slightly piercing note, similar to what I find in NGR – Nag Champa.
The sweetness is creamy, slightly vanilla-like, but also nectarous, forming a wonderful bridge between the fruitiness and the slightly spicy-woody aspect of the scent.
Due to their visual similarity, I briefly compared them to Woody Champa from Bhagwan, but the scents of the two are fundamentally different. Woody Champa lacks a fruity aspect, and the way they are spicy is entirely different.
In contrast to Bhagwan, the piercing note of Vishu is emphasized, which then reminds me somewhat of diesel. However, at the same time, I can also better understand Silver’s association with kaffir lime peel.
Vishu makes yummy Nag Champa, and I’m stunned they aren’t available here.
