Auroshikha – Opium
I got this pack as a by-catch, so to speak, along with a set of Japanese incense sticks I scored on Kleinanzeigen in late 2024.
These are mini-sticks, each 10cm in length, similar to those sold by Mother’s. A pack of minis contains 15 sticks, each with an approximate burn time of 15 minutes.
In Germany, I found a seller, Anandam, who offers the minis for €1.65, while the longer version (with 10 sticks) costs €2. Padma Store only stocks the long sticks, priced at €2.25 per pack. Auroshikha is widely available not only in Germany and often found as well in brick-and-mortar stores.
The listed scent notes include rose, sandalwood, pepper, lily of the valley, and clove.
In my opinion, Opium is a typical example of this fragrance genre and, consequently, a scent I can’t stand. To me, it smells like ‘old lady perfume’.
I can make out the rose and perhaps some lily of the valley, given that the scent is floral, sweet, and perfumey, yet overall the fragrance feels old-fashioned and obtrusive. It also has a somewhat soapy undertone, which makes it even less appealing to me.
I’d genuinely like to know how people who enjoy Opium incenses perceive this scent. If you like Opium, how do you experience this fragrance?
