Paropakaram – Patchouli

I received this sample in August 2024 from Sascha, the owner of Indiaroma.

A pack contains 10 sticks and costs €6.89.

I must say, these are very odd patchouli incense sticks.
They have a pronounced musk aspect that leans into the indolic direction. It could be that nutmeg is part of the recipe; I react quite sensitively to its odour because it smells like cat pee to me. Added to this is a sweetish note that combines with the ‘toilet smell’ and makes these Patchouli incenses quite obtrusive for me.

The actual patchouli fragrance only plays a subordinate role. On the first attempt, I couldn’t find it at all. Today, I at least perceive its typically earthy smell in the background of the composition.

Those who like nutmeg or get on well with indolic smells will probably perceive Paropakaram – Patchouli very differently. Unfortunately, these sticks are very much not made for me.
