Ramakrishna’s – Om Shanti

These samples come from a generous parcel that my friend Silver sent me from India at the beginning of 2024.

Ramakrishna’s are hardly available in Germany. The best possibility to buy Ramakrishna’s is via GoaBay; furthermore, there’s a US eBay shop, but it’s quite expensive.

Om Shanti have an intensely floral fragrance that reminds me of orange blossom and lily of the valley. It’s a powdery and very sweet fragrance.

When I have the stick placed in my living room, I find the sweetness very dominant and, after a short time, obtrusive. However, the fragrance drafting into adjoining rooms, and especially out into the hallway, is captivating and lovely. The scent is highly floral with a spicy-aromatic twist.
My mother, who lives on the lower floor, was very taken with the fragrance spreading there.

The second stick, I’ve set up in the adjacent room and I’m letting the fragrance be carried to me by the wind coming in through the open windows.
That way, I smell a fruity, slightly tart component, embedded in the now well-rounded sweetness. There’s a hint of a note that I always describe as ‘cosmetic’, as the smell reminds me of creams, body lotion and the like. When this note is too prominent, I find it unpleasant; generally, I find that it quickly makes a fragrance feel artificial. In Om Shanti, though, it’s so delicate and restrained that I even find it quite attractive.
Overall, the fragrance of Om Shanti feels soft and warm; it smells of dreamy summer days full of ease, on which you spend the time dozing in the shade of the garden.

Of all the Ramakrishna samples so far, I like Om Shanti by far the best.
From my gut, I’d say Om Shanti are one of my top favourites of the floral fragrances the year 2025 (although, I don’t really have a ranking for that).
