Guidelines for Vendors and Manufacturers
Vendors and manufacturers who wish to send me samples for review, please note the following points:
- Please do not send shipments from non-EU countries without prior agreement; however, initial contact is always appreciated.
- I reserve the right to refuse unannounced shipments that are subject to customs duties.
- Required Minimum Amounts of Samples:
- For incense with a burning time of over 45 minutes, 2 to 3 Sticks are usually sufficient for me; this mainly applies to Indian sticks with a bamboo core.
- For sticks (or other incense formats) with a shorter burning time, I ask for at least 4 to 6 pieces. This mainly includes Japanese sticks or Dhoop sticks and cones.
- In cases where I am sent whole packages, it is not unlikely that I will share samples with friends, acquaintances, and incense exchange partners.
- I am also happy to review other types of incense, including loose blends.
- Exceptions:
- I generally have no interest in backflow products.
- I don’t review white sage (Salvia apiana) products or those advertised with terms like ‘smudging‘.
- I reserve the right to refuse reviews in individual cases, e.g., with low-quality dipped incense sticks, especially those with fruit scents; however, generally, I aim to write about everything I receive.
- I cannot make any commitments about when or how quickly I will write a review.
- My review season begins in March/April and ends in September/October. So, if you send me something in the autumn, it is quite likely that it will take longer for a review to appear.
- Reviews published outside the season were either written earlier or are about products with which I am already sufficiently familiar.
- Please also note:
- If you are a vendor selling incense under your own brand, you must be prepared for me to speculate about the producer and make comparisons.
- The same applies regarding the ingredients, especially with loose incense.
- My reviews reflect my honest opinion. Personal preferences naturally influence them, but I consider it important to be fair.
