Bhagwan – Healing Eucalyptus
This pack comes from my order at Bhagwan Incense in September 2023. I received them as samples from Eugene, the owner.
Each box contains 15g, but since they come from different sources and their nature varies greatly, the number of sticks per box varies too. Healing Eucalyptus are quite thick, so the 15g pack contained 7 incense sticks. A pack costs €4.95, which makes it €0.70 per stick.
Disclosure: Due to my history and friendly relationship with Eugene, the owner of Bhagwan Incense, I would like to point out that I cannot write reviews of this brand with complete impartiality. I write a lot of the Bhagwan reviews based on samples that were given to me – these are labelled accordingly.
All reviews are unpaid and reflect my honest opinion, but you are welcome to consider them as advertising.
I can smell the eucalyptus on the raw sticks, which kept me from lighting one for quite a while because usually, I dislike eucalyptus. However, over the last year, there have been 1–2 examples showing that eucalyptus incense sticks can be quite okay, so I finally overcame my hesitation.
The unlit Healing Eucalyptus smells intensely minty fresh, supported by a pine needle-like green freshness and a slightly musty earthiness. What I find typical of eucalyptus is a bitter note; eucalyptus is the proverbial ‘bitter medicine’ for me.
When lit, the scent is unexpectedly soft. An almost balsamic softness fills the room, bringing a delicate sweetness that later again recedes to some extent.
The bitterness is completely absent; what remains is the menthol-like freshness of eucalyptus, accompanied by a foresty green tone that I perceive as pine-like in the raw smell. Occasionally, I catch a woody note that feels powdery-dry, adding another dimension to the softness of this composition. I am surprised at how facetted this scent is.
It amazes me to write this, but it seems I now have a favourite eucalyptus incense. 😀
The question is, does this mean that lovers of eucalyptus will also like Healing Eucalyptus?
Let me know in the comments!
I love Eucalyptus. I have one eucalyptus plant and been taking care of it with my Jasmine, Tulsi, Indian Rose and a big lime plant. I think I will like this.
