Goloka – Aromatherapy – Cucumber
I spontaneously added this pack to my order from Ephra World in August 2024. At the time, I had noticed a watery aspect in a few incense sticks which reminded me of cucumber, and I wanted to see if these weird incense sticks had that same peculiar scent.
[Spoiler: They don’t.]
The pack cost €1.65 and contained the usual 15g, which in this case equated to 10 sticks of 8″ (approx. 20.5cm) in length (around €0.17 per stick).
Cucumber smells about as much like cucumber as a cucumber-scented hand soap does. You can recognise the concept in that it’s a somewhat fresh, green scent, but it has little to do with the actual smell of a cucumber. It doesn’t really smell soapy, but soap is still the only thing I can compare the aroma to.
This fragrance is interwoven with a mild wood-smoke note from the base material, which serves as a reminder that this is indeed an incense stick and not a reed diffuser or something similar.
As is often the case, the name of the line is purely marketing; Cucumber is definitely not suited for aromatherapy. However, the scent isn’t downright unpleasant.
