Temple of Incense – Sandalwood
Sascha, owner of Indiaroma.de, sent me a surprise package with samples from his private collection some time ago (which, coincidentally, almost all can also be found in his shop). Among them were a whole range of Temple of Incense sticks and other goodies.
Sandalwood costs €11 at Indiaroma. A Box comes with 20 sticks, so it’s about €0.55 per stick. As far as I know, Sascha is currently the only one in Germany who stocks this TOI variety.
At the Temple of Incense shop, Sandalwood cost £9.
The sticks are 9″ (approx. 23cm) long and have an unusually thick bamboo core, which measures almost 2mm in diameter. The burning time is indicated at around 45 minutes.
With this Sandalwood, we have another example of a sandalwood scent with a cologne or aftershave character. But unlike the very tart First Sandal by Auroshikha, in Sandalwood, the sandalwood aspect is prominently displayed and clearly recognizable. The scent feels more like an aftershave balm, not like a harsh, strong aftershave.
Sandalwood has the creamy softness of sandalwood, along with some of its sweetness and warmth, but it’s strongly accentuated by tart-green, fresh, and slightly aquatic notes, as you know them from many typically masculine perfumes.
As a perfume, worn by the right person, I could certainly appreciate this composition. However, as a relatively intense room fragrance, Sandalwood is unfortunately less to my taste.
Temple of Incense – Sandalwood smells a bit like an incense version of the sandalwood shaving products by Mühle. For people who do like sandalwood incense with a masculine cologne touch, I can definitely recommend them.
