Monsoon Incense – Rose

Earlier in 2024, Eugene, the owner of Bhagwan Incense, sent me more samples, and this time included a variety of offerings from his other brand, Monsoon Incense.

Rose costs €2.95 for 15g, which corresponds to roughly eight sticks, €0,37 per piece.

If you enjoy distinctly sweet and intense rose fragrances, these Rose sticks are for you.
I fear I may be repeating myself, but I once again find myself comparing this scent to rose-flavoured Turkish delight, much like I did with Frank & Rose out of the Bhagwan range.
I also notice a slightly lemonbalm-like freshness in Rose, especially pronounced in the raw sticks, which initially put me off a little. However, this freshness balances the sugary-sweet scent.
The rose fragrance is lush and, at least to my taste, a bit too overwhelming. In the same room, I find the scent overpowering. Once it disperses a bit, it evokes associations with relaxation baths and develops an almost balsamic, silky-soft quality.
Only when it’s heavily diluted in the air (e.g., with doors open, so the scent can spread to other parts of the house) do I begin to perceive it as natural and genuinely pleasant. Before that, its sheer potency gets in its own way.

Eugene told me that Rose is one of the most popular varieties. Rose isn’t for me, but then I’m not much of a fan of rose scents in general.
Mike (ORS), on the other hand, compares the scent in his review to a walk through a rose garden and is very impressed by it.

Rose inspired me to dig out my sample of Vinasons – Kesar Gulab for comparison. A few years ago, an acquaintance gave me a few sticks of it. Back then, the intensity nearly knocked me off my feet. At the end of 2023, I received another sample from Padma Store. I’m curious to see how my perception has changed.
