Aargee – Laxmi Pooja

Sascha sent me three sticks of this variety when we exchanged samples in May 2024. He also provided the title image – thanks for that!

Aargee is a ‘vintage’ brand; the company no longer exists, but leftover stock still occasionally surfaces on the market. I’ve therefore marked Laxmi Pooja as discontinued.
In Sascha’s shop, Indiaroma, he sells the beautiful 100g boxes for €7.90.

Laxmi Pooja bear a certain resemblance to Nag Champa incense sticks; however, their floral quality largely moves in a different direction. They remind me of the various fragrances from Mother’s Nagchampa line, all of which share the same Nag Champa base, so to speak, with is then modified through the addition of other aromatic ingredients. In terms of quality and overall feel, I also find them comparable to Mother’s.

I believe Laxmi Pooja may include tuberose as part of the profile. In any case, I notice a similarity to other tuberose incense. The scent is very powdery and relatively sweet.
As is often the case with floral notes, they benefit from good ventilation. In the airstream of an open window, the fragrance opens into a dreamy softness.
Close to the burning stick, I perceive the scent as a bit duller, with the woody and tart-resinous elements becoming a little too prominent.

Laxmi Pooja release a powdery-soft cloud of floral scent that not only Nag Champa lovers will enjoy.

    1. Thanks Steve!

You, mentioning Stamford and Goloka made me remember something:
About 2 years ago, when I looked into a lot of what Goloka made, I found these Stamford – Laxmi Pooja sticks that name Goloka and share a similar design like the ORGANICA line boxes.

When I wanted to buy them, I found they were no longer available but replaced by sticks of the same name in a box that nods at the general design of Satya boxes.
I never bought those because I don’t get along with Satya.

So you might be absolutely right that they used to be made by Goloka, but now Satya being the manufacturing company.

    2. Do you happen to know if the Goloka version is still sold somewhere in the UK?
