Les Encens du Monde (Aromandise) – Karin
The Karin line from the French brand Les Encens du Monde (Aromandise) consists partly of low-smoke or smokeless incense sticks.
It’s produced on the Japanese island of Awaji. According to this Olfactory Rescue Service article, the manufacturer is Kunjudo, who claim to have been the first to produce low-smoke incense sticks (in 1975).
The Karin line is inspired by a classic work of Japanese literature from the 11th century: Genji Monogatari, named after the story’s protagonist (Prince Genji); it describes life at the imperial court.

In Aromandise’s shop, a box containing 12g / 40 sticks (each with a burn time of 30 minutes) and an incense holder with a changing design costs €8.90 (€9.90 for Swallows in Flight). In Germany, they can be found at the same price, though often more expensive.
Aromandise incenses can be overly expensive outside the EU, and it’s worth looking for Kunjudo instead, especially if you are living in the US (or Japan, of course).
The respective reviews will be linked after publication.
