Pema of Tibet – Faircense – Zeder

You can find the main article about the Faircense line here.
A pack of these Dry Masala incense sticks costs 4-5€, containing 10 sticks, which weigh about 10g and are 20cm long. The burning time is given as approx. 35 minutes.

On the back of the package, it only says ‘cedarwood’; in a PDF on the Faircense website, the specification Cedrus atlantica is given, while under ‘fragrance family’ Himalayan cedarwood is listed, which doesn’t add up. The Himalayan cedar is Cedrus deodara, while C. atlantica is the Atlas cedar.

Cedar | Forest Breeze don’t have a pure cedarwood scent for me, like, for instance, Les Encense du Monde – Atlas Cedar. However, their smell is stronger and somewhat more complex.
I detect a green note, similar to the Green Cedar sticks by Jiri & Friends, but without reminding me of burning hedge trimmings. The scent is almost a bit mineral.
Occasionally, I notice an almost fruity sweetness that I associate with Atlas cedarwood.
It seems to me that the incense dough of these sticks hasn’t got blended homogeneously because every now and then, another sweet note emerges, making the scent appear sweetened. I suspect it’s some benzoin resin. In other sticks of the same variety, this sweetness was permanently present; in this one, it appeared only twice.
The after-smell is unfortunately a bit too smoky for me, but I only notice this if I leave the room for a while and come back in.

I prefer Cedar to Aromandise’s Cedarwood or the other two incenses mentioned above. I find them pleasant, though not actually my taste. They are unobtrusive incense sticks with a natural scent profile.
