Gulabsingh Johrimal – Nag Champa

I received two sticks of this Nag Champa from Sascha when we swapped samples in mid-2024. I fell in love instantly and ended up buying two boxes from him shortly after. At his shop, Indiaroma, a pack costs €4.90; it contains 15 g, which is about 10 sticks (€0.49 per stick). The burn time is listed as approximately 45 minutes.

These Nag Champa are simply delicious. The fragrance is floral, fresh and sparkling, almost exotically fruity, like a tropical cocktail. At the same time, there’s a fascinating spiciness that’s hard to pinpoint but gives the scent a distinct character and sets it apart from other Nag Champa varieties.
These aspects are seamlessly tied together by a luscious, soft creaminess and sweetness, which at times has a slightly vanilla-like nuance.
When stronger diluted in the air, the fruitiness steps into the background, allowing a beautiful sandalwood note to emerge, which blends wonderfully with the vanilla tone.
There’s also a very subtle muskiness in the background, vaguely reminiscent of Golden Nag Champa by Vijayshree, though Gulabsingh is leagues ahead.

These Nag Champa rank among the best I’ve ever tried, placing Gulabsingh firmly in the top tier. Nag Champa lovers shouldn’t miss out on this scent!
