Vijay – Pink Drop
I received two of these samples sent from India by my friend Silver in early 2024.
Vijay don’t seem to have a (working) website, but there is a Facebook and Instagram profile. The brand isn’t available here; in India a 50g pack costs ₹90 (about 0,90€.)
When lighting, Pink Drop shows a very sooty flame.
For how affordable these sticks are, they’re far from bad. However, they’re really intense. The smell is perfume-like, which though, judging by the packaging, is absolutely intentional.
I’d classify the fragrance roughly as ‘rose’. It’s very sweet, but has a fresh, sparkling component. I also smell a spicy note that reminds me a bit of cloves.
The sheer intensity makes the smell quickly seem somewhat pungent, so you should ensure sufficient fresh air supply. I have two windows open and my mini-fan running.
Anyone who loves intensely floral fragrances and is looking for a budget-friendly option will enjoy Pink Drop.

I remember getting sent a number of those samples a few years back – not from Vijay, but from shops I bought from. I reviewed the Blue Drop, which like you with the Pink Drop, I found pleasant as an everyday perfumed incense, but no more than that. I don’t seem to have reviewed any others.

This was 2021. I don’t recall getting sent any recently. My assumption is that Vijay was looking to get into the UK market and gave free samples to a UK distributor. I linked their website in my review, but I just checked, and it is down.
This and the Shiv Sandal are the only two Vijay incenses I had. I think Silver got them somewhere in a brick-and-mortar store where she bought a bunch of other incense.
I got some more free samples she forwarded me, from a company called U.B. Rao, but I haven’t come around to try those yet.
I’m pretty much finishing off my review season and try to get some final reviews done of stuff I have tried during summer.
And I have a ton of already written reviews waiting to be proof-red and translated. 🙂
I think they will last throughout the winter.
And I have some more Bakhoors to try, and some Nerikohs, what I will do once days have gotten colder.
I have been meaning to get closer to bakhoor for some years now. I bought a few pieces when I first came upon bakhoor, but they ended up being forgotten under a pile of other stuff.
I can see that you are working your way through quite a long back log. It soon mounts up doesn’t it?
Yes I got these samples from Acharya Products in Matunga, Mumbai.
I am really surprised at the non-negative reviews. I was expecting much worse. Especially from pink drop and blue drop.
@rauchfahne did I send you samples of Vakratunda dhoop sticks? I dont remmeber if I got them after I sent you the incense package. Would love to know your thoughts on them. I think Steve reviewed them a while back.

No, I there was only one dhoop type incense and that is Rathnams Sandalwood.
I remember Steve’s reviews, they sounded interesting.
