Nippon Kodo – Koh-Do – Lotus

This already opened pack was given away on Kleinanzeigen at the beginning of this year (2026).

Packs of this line are sold by shops like Sonnlicht (€3.99). They contain 20 sticks of about 14cm length; the burn time is given as 25 minutes.

The Koh-Do line is assembled from varieties of various other lines, which becomes apparent from the product descriptions and reference numbers at Tierra Zen. Accordingly, Lotus is actually Kazedayori – Summer, under whose description you can find a note that it’s also available in packs of 20 sticks. The reference number given is that of Koh-Do – Lotus.

According to the description on Tierra Zen, Lotus has notes of lily of the valley, cyclamen, sandalwood and musk.

The raw smell of the sticks is slightly reminiscent of Ka-fuh – Aqua, but smells noticeably more perfumey in a way that I find old-fashioned. Maybe because the smell reminds me of one of my grandmothers.

It’s no different with the lit sticks. The smell has the aquatic-fresh character of Aqua, but with a floral perfume on top. Cyclamen is what Lotus and Aqua have in common, so the perfumey quality must come from lily of the valley and musk.

Alongside the aroma of the sticks, I unfortunately once again smell the Nippon Kodo‘s base note all too clearly, which I find in so many of their varieties. In Aqua, it’s far more subdued and doesn’t bother me; in Lotus I can’t get past it.
