Satya (Mumbai) – Natural – Sandal
This box of Satya – Natural Sandal was part of a bundle of second-hand incense sticks that I purchased on Kleinanzeigen earlier this in 2024.
Of all the Mumbai Satya incense sticks I’ve got so far, these are the first of inferior, extruded quality. The base is likely perfumed sawdust, also known in the trade as ‘white powder’. In the product image at Ephra World Shop, the sticks appear to be Masala. Either the production for this variety was switched, or they actually exist in two variants, which is unfortunately quite possible.
Extruded sticks, thickly coated with wood powder to carry out the appearance of Masala.
In terms of scent, I find Natural Sandal unobtrusive but not particularly good. You can detect the idea of sandalwood, but there’s no need to have any illusions about its ‘naturalness’.
The scent doesn’t have any real off-notes, but it smells like a cheap air freshener with a slightly cosmetic touch. This makes them a bit better than Nikhils – Sandal Premium or the recently reviewed Chandan Dhoop. However, they bear some resemblance to the latter.
Surely, you can light those, but maybe just don’t?
